Driver charged
with DUI
Edward Clark Jr., 67, of South Whitehall Township, was taken into custody after police were called for a red Chevrolet Silverado allegedly driving erratically 6 p.m. June 28 on Old Post Road at Ramble Wood Lane, Washington Township, say State Police Troop M Bethlehem.
Clark's pickup truck allegedly struck several mailboxes and guide wires to a Verizon utility pole, police say.
Police allege after making initial contact, they determined Clarkshowed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody without incident.
He was then transported to the Lehigh Valley Booking Center for a legal blood draw, say police.
Police say on July 1 charges were filed with District Judge Rod Beck and the Clark was picked up on a warrant.
He is awaiting arraignment at the Lehigh County Prison.
Clark was charged with driving under the influence, endangering the welfare of children and seven summary violations.
Vehicle overturns
in Heidelberg Twp
State Police Troop M Bethlehem say Jessica L. Rehatchek, 23, of Summit Hill, Carbon County, was driving a 2003 Volkswagon Passat 2:36 p.m. June 30 when it struck an embankmnent along Route 309, Heidelberg Township.
According to police, the car was southbound on Route 309, 64 feet west of Newside Road when Rehatchek, who was allegedly driving too fast for conditions, lost control of her vehicle.
The car traveled off the right side of the road, up a steep embankment, where the undercarriage struck the embankment, police say.
The car then veered left and began to roll onto the driver's side as it re-entered the southbound lane of travel.
The car then rolled onto its roof before coming to a final rest in the southbound lane, facing east.
Rehatchek, who was wearing her seat belt, was transported by Northern Valley Emergency Medical Services to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She was charged with driving her vehicle at an unsafe speed.
Trooper Nicholas Bucar, Goodwill Fire Company and Carl's Towing assisted at the scene.
Canoe stolen
from Lehigh River
According to a police report received July 1, State Police Troop M Bethlehem say Daniel Opresko of Treichlers reported his canoe was stolen sometime between June 25-29 from the Lehigh River off Route 873, Washington Township.
The canoe is green with black patches on the bottom and front tip, police say.
