Board deals with various issues

Ben Giralico was first to address the Lynn Township supervisors at their monthly meeting.

He recommended the sign honoring New Tripoli Bank as an Ontelaunee Park sponsor be moved to a more visible location.

The sign is currently on the less visible side of the bandshell.

Chairman Justin Smith will talk to the bank officials to check what their feelings are on the matter.

Nancy Smith was next with a request for a time extension on her one lot subdivision. south of Allemaengel Road and west of Donats Peak Road.

After some discussion, the board agreed to an 180-day time extension for approval contingent upon receiving a letter in writing requesting the time extension.

Ontelaunee Apartments, on the south side of Allemaengel Road, New Tripoli, was given conditional preliminary approval.

Lehigh Engineering represented the plan.

The proposal is to combine two lots, each with three units, into one lot to make it more compatible with the township zoning ordinance.

New Tripoli Fire Chief Peter Christ gave the fire company report and told supervisors firefighters had 79 calls for service to date.

The fire company will have a food stand at Night in the Country and will participate in the firefighter games.

There was no report from Lynnport Fire Company.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber, in his report, noted spring mowing has been completed, Miller Road was paved, other roads are being oiled and chipped and the crew has been helping other townships with their projects.

He applauded the cooperation Heidelberg, Weisenberg, Lowhill and Lynn townships have working on the roads together.

He said their working relationship is excellent and whenever a helping hand is needed, they are always available.

The township gave its annual donations to the local service organizations.

Lynnport Fire Company, New Tripoli Fire Company and the Northwestern Recreation Commission each will receive $5,000. Northwestern Rescue Squad will receive $3,000 and Night in the Country will receive a $500 donation toward expenses.
