A 52-year-old man and his 51-year-old wife, from Weisenberg Township, died after the motorcycle they were riding struck a tree 10:58 p.m. July 10 on Route 309, Lynn Township.

David J. Hummel, of 9681 Stagecoach Road, was pronounced dead 11:47 p.m. July 10 by Deputy Coroner Jason Nicholas at the scene of the accident, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said.

His wife, Suzanne L. Hummel, was pronounced dead 6:01 a.m. on July 11 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, from severe injuries received in the crash.

According to State Police Troop M Fogelsville, David Hummel was operating a 2014 Harley Davidson southbound on Route 309, a half-mile north of the intersection with Mountain Road, when the motorcycle traveled off the roadway and struck the tree on the west edge of the road.

The Hummels were thrown from the motorcycle, police say.
