Summer is in full swing. You know summer is here by the number of people who are out and about.

Just a note of caution: Be careful driving.

You'll be sharing the road with cyclists, runners and walkers. And, don't forget to drive carfully around cars stopping for yard sales.

Everest Vacation Bible School will be hosted from 6-8:45 p.m. July 19-23 at New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6804 Weiss Road, New Tripoli.

At Everest, kids will discover what it means to hold on to God's mighty power in everyday life.

Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and dig into yummy treats, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, meet Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God's love, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they will take home and play with all summer .

Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through God Sightings.

Each day concludes with a Summit Celebration getting everyone involved in living what they've learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at 8:30 p.m.

The Northwestern Recreation Commission is hosting its 17th annual "Night in the Country" 4-10 p.m. Aug. 15. Rain date is Aug. 16.

There will be live music, a huge car cruise, DJ, Chinese auction, bingo, plus great food and activities.

To end the evening, a fabulous fireworks display is planned.

Vacation Bible School, "Everest: Conquering Challenges with God's Might Power" will run 6-8:30 p.m. July 19-23, at Ebenezer UCC, New Tripoli. VBS is open to kids 3 years old up to those in fifth grade.

New Bethel Church, Kempton, is hosting a bus trip Sept. 12 to see "Joseph" at Sight and Sound Theatre, with lunch at Shady Maple.

Proceeds benefit church programs.

An all-handmade craft show will take placefrom 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Lynnport Fire Company, Lynnport.

There will be a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle, food made by the fire company, and trick or treat bags for kids.

Applications for a table and two chairs will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

As the show will be small, only three crafters per type of craft will be accepted.
