Upper Macungie Township

Upper Macungie Township is offering Movies in the Park with the showing of "The Penguins of Madagascar" July 11 at Breinigsville Park, 8935 Breinigsville Road, Breinigsville. The events begin 7 p.m. Movie starts at dusk.

The township, in partnership with the state Fish and Boat Commission, will be hosting a four-hour, free educational fishing program for children, ages 8 and and older, and their familiesfrom 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 18 at the ponds at Apple Park, 1935 Packhouse Road, Fogelsville.

The first half of this program will teach participants about knot tying, rules and regulations, casting practice, gear and tackle guidance.

Then, there will be the fishing experience to catch and release fish.

Tackle and fishing equipment will be provided. Bring red, night crawlers or meal worms.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave, South Whitehall, is offering kids a chance to read aloud to Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs at Read to the Pups 6:30 p.m. July 13 and 20 at the library.

Wear your best costume and enjoy crafts and games 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. July 11 and hear superhero author/artist Bob McLeod give a presentation about his art and sign books 1:30 p.m. that day at the Mini Comic Con at the library.

Kids in grades six through 12 are invited to let McLeod show them what goes into creating a superhero at the Comic Class 7 p.m. July 17 at the South Whitehall Township Building, 4444 Walbert Ave.

Book Club for Seniors will meet 3 p.m. July 14 to discuss the novel, "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen at Luther Crest Retirement Community, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall Township.

Discover how to prevent identity theft or what to do after identity theft happens at a free educational workshop 2 p.m. July 20 at Independent Park, 150 Independent Road, Breinigsville.

Join library staff for interactive storytime and fun craft for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade at the stories in the schools 10:30 a.m. July 15 Fogelsville Elementary School, 312 S. Route 100, Breinigsville; 2 p.m. July 22 at Parkway Manor Elementary, 768 Parkway Road, South Whitehall Township.
