The public will have the opportunity to say goodbye to the former Albany Township Elementary School, 5-8 p.m. on July 10 duirng an open house sponsored by the Albany Township Historical Society.
The event includes a walk-through of the school, memorabilia table for people to display items such as field day T-shirts, art projects, books and more. At 7 p.m., the 1958 cornerstone will be opened.
The Kempton Lions Club will sell hot dogs and a special, surprise dessert will be served.
Bring lawn chairs, memories, artifacts and friends to this unique community event.
Historical society members will record oral histories and scan photos.
A public auction will take place 10 a.m. July 11.
The building, furnishings, equipment, building and real estate of the 6.76-acre are up for bid.
The Kutztown School Board voted April 7 to sell the school.
Albany Elementary, which last included kindergarten and first grade, closed at the end of the 2012-13 school year.
