LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Camp Jefferson goes to Skateaway

Camp Whitehall began its first week on Monday. The Jefferson Street campers started the gorgeous morning with games of kickball, Jump the River, Fastest in the West and Hungry Giant outside. Then everyone headed indoors to cool off and play the campers' all-time favorite game, dodgeball.

Since Camp Cementon was also at Jefferson Street this week, they too joined in the game of dodgeball with the older campers and the counselors.

The rest of the day was spent at the pool , where the campers enjoyed swimming and playing Four Square with the counselors and some lifeguards.

Tuesday was also spent outside playing Knock-Out on the basketball court, as well as Silent Ball and multiple rounds of Chiefs and Indians. After lunch, the kids enjoyed another day at the Jefferson pool.

On Wednesday, Jefferson campers played more outdoor games like Manhunt and Jailbreak.

On Thursday morning, the campers enjoyed free time playing whatever interested them. Many of the kids participated in games of Four Square, Tag and 5v5 basketball on the courts, while others kicked around a soccer ball or enjoyed the playground. Before lunch, Camp Jefferson played Elbow Tag. Each camper picked a partner and interlocked arms. One camper was chosen to be the runner and another was the tagger. The runner would try not to get tagged. The runners could switch by linking on to a person in a pair and having the other take their place as a runner. The campers really enjoyed this game and burst out in laughter once the counselors joined in.

Camp Jefferson went to Skateaway for their first field trip of the summer. They spent Friday morning roller skating around the rink to popular songs. The campers came back to Jefferson and were given straws and white paper to create their own bubble paint masterpiece. They took turns blowing bubbles into cups filled with a colorful mix of paints, dish soap and water. Once the bubbles reached the top of the cup, the campers pressed paper on top to form colorful bubble prints. The campers enjoyed making this unique craft and seeing the variety of prints they created.

Both Camp Cementon and Camp Jefferson spent Friday afternoon at the pool, enjoying the last day at camp together.

The Campers of the Week for Camp Jefferson were Juan and Meghan! These two campers played every game with a smile and showed good sportsmanship.

Overall, the first week of camp was exciting and went really fast since Camp Cementon joined Camp Jefferson in all the fun at Fullerton Park.
