STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am a member of the Class of 2015 from Emmaus High School.

Q: What was your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite subject was government. I enjoy learning about the creation of the Constitution and the Founding Fathers. In addition, I am passionate about our civil liberties and like following the Supreme Court deliberations regarding these cases.

Q: Did you receive any special awards or recognition?

A: For all four years at Emmaus, I was on either the Principal's Honor Roll or Honor Roll. I am a member of National Honor Society and the French Honor Society. I have received Principal's Awards for excellence in English and World Studies Honors. I have also received athletic awards for Emmaus girls lacrosse, was named the Defensive Player of the Year for 2014 and am honored to have been named the Emmaus Girls Lacrosse Scholar Athlete this year. I was very fortunate to have also been chosen for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference's All Conference 1st Team for girls lacrosse.

Q: Were you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: I was a tri-captain of the Emmaus High School's girls lacrosse team and a member of the Interact Club. I am also the owner of a wonderful American Saddlebred horse and enjoy horseback riding in my free time.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: In the fall of this year, I will attend Saint Joseph's University as a member of their Honors Program where I plan on majoring in international relations.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge has definitely been trying to juggle everything from school, work, family, friends, sports and other extracurricular activities. Although it is often a challenge, I feel it is really important to make enough time for all aspects of my life.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I would like to be remembered for being a hardworking student and also a teammate who never gives up on their team. Lastly, a person who is always there for their loved ones and is a supportive friend.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: My family is my father Brad, my mother Beth, my sisters Kate and Meg, our dog Lucy and my horse Bugle Boy.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: In addition to my parents, I look up to my lacrosse coach and former teacher, Julie Williams. She has taught me to never give up and to really push myself. She has been a great mentor in my high school career.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: My advice is to plan ahead. It's hard to manage everything especially school and sports, but it can be done with good planning. Also, embrace what you're passionate about and don't second-guess yourself.
