At the curriculum meeting June 17, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Lynn Fuini-Hetten announced a number of community workshops being offered by the district at no charge to residents.

To learn the basics of Google Apps, including Drive and Calendar, attend the workshop 9 a.m. to noon June 25 at the administration building, 1140 Salisbury Road.

A workshop on 1:1 at Home, based on Jason Brand's book, will explore the challenges parents experience at home managing a school-issued laptop computer. This workshop will be offered 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. June 26 at the administration building.

A positive parenting workshop will be offered 6 to 7:30 p.m. July 16 at Western Salisbury Jerusalem Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown, facilitated by Denise Continenza, Penn State Extension.

Two other parenting workshops by Continenza will be offered: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5, "What Makes My Child Tick" and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 18, "Lend Me Your Ear," both at Western Salisbury Jerusalem Church.

A community workshop on social media will be offered 9 to 11 a.m. July 28 at the administration building.

Also approved at the meeting was the implementation of a Title 1 schoolwide program at Salisbury Middle School.

School Resource Officer Richard Nothstein will offer a national program for sixth grade students at SMS next year on laws, crime prevention and digital citizenship.

The Study Island program will be renewed for next year, used by all students in the district in some capacity.

Lastly, an update was provided on full-day kindergarten. Interviews are being held for teachers and supplies have been ordered.
