In February, James and Ingrid Green embarked on a new business venture: Caring Transitions of the Lehigh Valley, located in Trexlertown.

The local franchise of a national network, Caring Transitions, focuses on assisting those in need of asset liquidation and moving services. Whether a client's needs involve moving to a smaller residence, organizing clutter and/or arranging an estate sale, the Greens provide customized and comprehensive assistance.

In the words of James, "[We strive to] bring order out of chaos."

The goals of Caring Transitions include creating smooth lifestyle shifts and minimizing clients' anxiety.

"Sometimes just having a third party involved eliminates stress," Ingrid said.

In the case of an elderly individual or couple moving from a large home to a senior community, services may include everything from determining which items to take, overseeing the packing, transporting and unpacking to coordination with real estate agents.

Established Macungie residents, the Greens bring well-developed skills to their new enterprise.

James has a varied business background which includes work as a graphic designer. He said bringing multiple concerns into a simplified but comprehensive package comes naturally to him.

Ingrid, who was employed for 25 years in industrial automation, worked most recently as an informational technology director. Her assignments included smoothing out difficulties for co-workers. Ingrid believes her interpersonal skills and positive attitude mesh well with the requirements of her new professional role.

The concept for Caring Transitions took shape in 2006 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company grew from a perceived need to support elderly people as they downsized or changed residences.

Although each office is owned and operated independently, practitioners are, according to the company's informational brochure, "...bonded, insured and thoroughly screened, and each office is required to hold the Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist designation."

Having trained at the company's corporate head quarters in Cincinnati, Ingrid views the company as a growing industry serving an expanding segment of the population. Caring Transitions currently boasts 150 offices nationwide.
