Board tables apartment plan

The Ontelaunee Apartment plan came before Lynn Township supervisors June 4.

However, there was no one present to represent the plan, so township engineer Chris Noll reviewed the engineering comment letter with the board.

As some items were still open, the board tabled the matter.

New Tripoli Fire Chief Peter Christ gave the fire company report.

He told the board they had 60 fire calls to date for the year. Six firefighters completed Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician Class and 11 completed Advanced Rapid Intervention Team Training.

Rope 1 class is scheduled for June 20 and 21.

The fire company will have its annual chicken barbecue 10:30 a.m. on June 21.

Christ also discussed the progress of the fire company's building project. He requested the board waive the fees for the permits as it was for the fire company.

After zoning board approval, the fire company will hire a project manager to oversee construction from start to finish.

Supervisors were in agreement to waive the fees.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber in his report to the board said paving projects are completed.

The road crew worked on: Flint Hill, Creamery, Borman, Brobst Hill, Cardinal, Miller, Kemp School, Blue Jay, Rabbit Run and Scholler roads; Strawberry Court and Lovers Lane.

The road crew is assisting Lowhill Township with its project and are mowing the road sides. Roads will be prepped for oiling and chipping.

Bids were received for the truck and roller. No bids were received for the leaf vacuum.

Matt Wood won the successful bid for the truck with a price of $17,000. Andy George got the roller for $200.

Brian Dietrich suggested the leaf vacuum be sent to the Kempton spring sale next year.

The township engineer will contact an architect on the proposed expansion of the township building to house the Cetronia ambulance and crew.

Sylvia Gardner gave a report on the proposed dog park at Ontelaunee Park.

She has received three bids for the fencing ranging from $10,050 to $10,450.

The board will decide on the type of fencing to surround the area. Gardner will acquire quotes on the different types of fencing.

Chairman Justin Smith gave the snow catcher bids and recommended Scott Smith receive the nod with his low bid of $1,400.

The other board members agreed.

The vacation of Frey Road is currently at a standstill.

Noll told supervisors at this time they receive $2,600 per mile in liquid fuels funds. By vacating a portion of Frey Road, a proportionate amount of liquid fuels money would be lost.

The sink hole problem in Lynnport will be placed entirely in PennDOT's domain. The board cited its unwillingness to cooperate on the project and as it is within their right-of-way, they should be responsible for its remediation.

Brian Dietrich suggested the township name be placed on the new truck. The style of the lettering and the contractor were discussed.

Events in the park include the 7th annual Car and Motorcycle Show 1 p.m. July 12 and Music in the Park with The Large Flowerheads 2 p.m. Sept. 27.

The annual Night in the Country is scheduled for Aug. 15 with a rain date of Aug. 16.
