2015 National German Exam winners and the yearlong German American Partnership Program student were recognized at the May 18 Northampton Area School District Board of Education meeting. Noah Schafer is the student from Gladenbach, Germany, who studied at Northampton Area High School for the 2014-15 school year. "We were the only school in the Lehigh Valley that got awards," April Krempasky, German teacher and World Languages chair, seen in the background of the photos, told NASD school directors and administrators. The NASD students garnered one gold and four bronze medals in the contest, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of German. The fifth-year German students participated in the Level 4 competition, answering 100 questions. There were 628 students in Pennsylvania and 4,928 students in the United States who participated at Level 4.
