At a recent township meeting, Salisbury Police Chief Allen W. Stiles provided the board of commissioners with the 2014 annual report of police activity.
The police department received 7,897 calls in 2014 resulting in 5,975 incident reports.
There were 357 crash investigations, 579 responses to alarms and 200 fire calls.
A total of 963 ambulance calls were received.
There were 3,974 traffic arrests, 254 non-traffic arrests and 43 parking tickets issued.
Regarding arrests, there were 392 adult arrests, 78 juvenile arrests and 36 driving under the influence arrests.
Officers logged 223.5 hours in court and spent 3,315 hours on overtime.
Officers logged 194,182 miles in Salisbury covering 11.4 square miles.
Revenue generated by the department included vehicle code violations, parking tickets, Lehigh Valley Health Network parking tickets, copies of police reports, county fines, security alarm ordinance, fingerprints and fire inspection fees totalling $94,321.95.
Staffing includes one chief of police, one detective, three sergeants, 12 full-time officers, two part-time officers, four part-time fire inspectors, two administrative assistants and four school crossing guards.
Regarding criminal investigation activity, 35 burglaries and five attempted burglaries were investigated as well as 160 thefts, 10 auto thefts, two robberies, 27 assaults, 11 sexual assaults, one arson and 34 drug arrests. There were no homicides in the township in 2014.
The value of property stolen was $354,559; the value of property recovered was $97,164.
In 2014, the police department received a total of $188,550 in grant funds and has received a total of $973,951 in grants since 1995.
