L. Macungie Township Board of Commissioners
A pizza shop and a restaurant are among several new businesses expected to find homes in Lower Macungie Township.
Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza was approved for occupancy in the new Hamilton Crossings at the May 21 meeting of the Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners. The liquor license transfer for the business was approved.
Poblano Med-Mex Grill was approved for the building in Trexlertown located next to Sleepy's near Marshall's department store. Presently there will be no outdoor seating.
Schaefer Run Commons was re-approved for 1550 Route 100. Schaefer Run Commons is age-restricted residential units. There will be 112 of the units at the site. It is partially in Upper Macungie Township. The development was proposed by the Jaindl Land Company.
A subdivision has been approved for land on Mill Creek Road near the Walmart Shopping Center. Medical offices are proposed for one of the lots.
There has been a resurfacing project on Hamilton Boulevard and the Route 222 bypass. Most of the work has been done at night. The work being done includes milling, base repairs, paving, new guardrails, new ramps and new pavement markings. The work began April 7. The bypass work should be completed by the end of June. Hamilton Boulevard work should be completed by the end of July.
Traffic signals related to Spring Creek Properties, which are Pennsylvania Department of Transportation requirements, were approved. The intersections involved are Route 100 and Spring Creek Road, Congdon Hill Drive and Spring Creek Road, Mertztown Road and Spring Creek Road and Trexlertown Road and Spring Creek Road.
In other meeting news, Attorney John Ashcroft was approved as conflict solicitor. He will be paid $155 an hour.
The Quarry Park field project was a topic of discussion. A choice had to be made for the material used for the field. The better materials were chosen as there is less chance of injuries. The field materials are made up of ground up sneakers. The choice of the better materials increases the price of the project to $6 million from $3.3 million. As the project moves forward, a list will be made and prioritized. For instance, lighting is a priority while some of the buildings and parking lots are not.
