Slonaker, Eckhart to do battle again

According to unofficial results from the Lehigh County Voter Registration Office, County Controller Glenn Eckhart, a Republican from Salisbury Township, garnered 9,460 votes on his party's ticket in the May 19 primary.

Democrat Thomas Slonaker of Whitehall Township received an unofficial 9,239 votes of the total 18,699 cast.

The last time the two went head-to-head was in November 2011 when voters chose Eckhart, who at the time was a member of the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners, first elected to that office in 2006.

The names of both candidates will appear on their respective party's ballots in the Nov. 3 Municipal Election.
