Lynn board hears car cruise update

Lynn Township opened its May 14 meeting with a public comment period.

Recreation Committee member Susan Giralico, told the board donations were received from Plaza Hardware and New Tripoli Bank toward the Car Cruise July 12 at Ontelaunee Park.

Food will be available from the Slatedale Emerald Lions Club. Festivities will run 1-4 p.m.

There is a $5 entrance fee for cars, trucks and bikes with free admission for spectators. Music will be courtesy of 45 RPM band.

Cheri Leinberger asked supervisors if they had a chance to review the zoning board decision on the property they asked about last month.

She also wanted to know if they would seek any action against the decision of the zoning board.

The owners were seeking a special exception for a commercial recreation area on property on Springhouse Road.

Supervisors were unanimous in their decision not to pursue any action in this case. The board said it was in their place to file any appeal on the decision.

Russel Wambold, of Hoffadaeckel Court, complained about junk on a neighboring property. Apparently, the owner is depositing pallets and other material. Chris Noll, township enforcement officer, will investigate. He was warned that there are vicious dogs on the property.

Fire Chief Peter Christ gave the report for the New Tripoli Fire Company.

They received 18 fire calls since last meeting. He also noted that there will be a chicken barbecue on Father's Day and the social quarters are being renovated and modernized to entice more bookings of the facility.

Firefighters are attending on-going classes relating to their positions.

Christ requested direction on his screening of firefighters for anyone who might be guilty of child abuse.

He requested Solicitor Mark Fisher, examine the matter for the fire company and determine if they could do this legally.

Supervisor Steve Feinour said Lynnport Fire Company should also be allowed to screen its members.

Fisher will look into the matter for the next meeting.
