Heidelberg
Calling all retirees! On June 2, Heidelberg Association for Retired Persons, better known as H.A.R.P., is planning a road trip for 10:30 a.m. to the George Taylor House, also known as the George Taylor Mansion.
This was the home of George Taylor, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
The home, in Catasauqua, was built by Taylor in 1768 and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1971.
The Borough of Catasauqua purchased the house from the Lehigh County Historical Society in 2009 and today sponsors events and offers tours of the property at the borough's southwestern corner near the historic Lehigh River Canal.
After the tour, this busy bunch of retirees will enjoy a little lunch at a nearby restaurant.
Those interested in attending, or who would like to car-pool or follow others from the church, should call Katherine Blose at 610-336-0555 or Eleanor Klevenhagen at 610-767-5065.
