SALISBURY HIGH SCHOOL

Brian Muschlitz became assistant principal at Salisbury High School Jan. 16 and could not be happier.

Muschlitz became a juvenile probation officer in 1984 and continued until 2004 because he believed he had even more to offer.

"I spent years working on the reactive end; I felt I could be more proactive," Muschlitz said.

Muschlitz said he never had plans to become an administrator.

Working as a family counselor and substance abuse counselor motivated him.

He went back to school to become a teacher and landed a teaching position at Northampton School District from 2004 to 2015. He taught fifth, sixth and eighth grade students.

In his position as assistant principal at SHS, he helps with the day-to-day operations, disciplining of students and providing support for faculty and staff.

"I work closely with [Principal] Heather [Morningstar}. We are a team. The entire school is a team," Muschlitz said.

Muschlitz likes to motivate students and staff and offer his expertise in working with children.

He has found Salisbury to be a nice family from school administration to the families.

"I couldn't have asked for a better place to learn to be an administrator."

Muschlitz said everyone he works with is very positive. The staff is willing to do what they can to help every student.

"Every day I walk the halls, go into the cafeteria and sit in the classrooms."

He hopes the students feel welcome to come into his office and talk and come to realize him as a person who cares.

"I would like to thank the Salisbury community for welcoming me with open arms and for their support."
