Area middle school students attend the Lehigh County Conservation District Envirothon recently. Middle school participants included students from Arts Academy, Catasauqua, Eyer, Lower Macungie, Orefield, Southern Lehigh, Springhouse, Whitehall, St. Ann and Seven Generations Charter School. Middle school students attend educational talks and do several hands-on activties at the event.
Daniel Thomulka from St. Ann School, Emmaus, measures the circumference of a tree with a Biltmore stick under the guidance of Tim Latz, a forestry expert. A Biltmore stick is used to measure tree dimensions.
