LOWER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP COLUMN LMT Library searching for superheroes

The Lower Macungie Library summer reading club, "Every Hero has a Story," will begin registration 9 a.m. May 30. There will be programs for school age superheroes in kindergarten through seventh grade Tuesdays June 23 to July 28. Reading incentive programs are available for pre-readers, independent readers and teen readers. Drop-by preschool storytimes will be held 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. There will also be family fun nights on Mondays from June 22 to Aug. 3. Teen Time will be offered Thursdays.

There is also a Summer Reading Club "Escape the Ordinary" for adults. Registrations begin June 23 and the program runs through Aug. 8.

The library will be closed May 25.

The Friends of the Library thank all who supported the spring book sale which raised over $4,000 for the library. Book donations for the next sale will be accepted at the library starting June 1. Book sorting will begin 8:30 a.m. July 9 for the fall book sale. The next Friends of the Library meeting will be 10 a.m. Sept. 19.

Registration for the Lower Macungie Township's summer playground program will take place 6 to 8 p.m. May 21 at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center. The program is open to children who have completed kindergarten through 11 years and runs 9 a.m. to noon June 29 through Aug. 14. Programs are held at Quarry, Church Lane, East Texas, Hills at Lockridge and Wild Cherry parks.

The Lower Macungie Pool will open for the season May 23 and be open noon to 8 p.m. for Memorial Day weekend. The pool will be open weekends only noon to 8 p.m. through June 5. From June 6 through Aug. 30, the pool will be open noon to 8 p.m. daily. The pool will close 4:45 p.m. June 22 and 25 for swim meets.

A summer kickoff party will be held 1 to 5 p.m. June 28 featuring D.H. Productions Dip-N-Dance 1 to 3 p.m. and a magic show by Tom Yurasits 4 p.m. For more information, check the website www lowermac. org.

Lower Macungie Pool Swim lesson signups are accepted 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the community center.

The Marine Band will perform 7 p.m. June 6 at Prater Park. Macungie Band will perform July 11 at the Hills at Lockridge.

Lower Macungie Township is partnering with PA Career Link Lehigh Valley to host a job fair 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9 at the community center. Companies to be represented will be posted on the Lower Macungie website at www.lowermac. com.

The Lower Macungie Senior Citizens Club meets noon June 2 and 16 at the community center. After a business meeting, members play bingo or card games.

Lower Macungie Township offers discounted tickets to Dorney Park, Hershey Park, Philadelphia Zoo and Six Flags Great Adventure. Tickets can be purchased at the community center 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

Family Open Gym time is 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays for ages infant through 10 years with a parent. Proof of residency is required.

Yard waste site hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The site is closed Tuesday and Thursday. Be prepared to show your photo I.D. as proof of residency.
