Area middle school and high school students return to the Pool Wildlife Sanctuary, Emmaus, for the annual Lehigh County Conservation District Envirothon recently. The event features testing focused on environmental topics including: aquatics, soils, forestry, wildlife and urban and community forestry. The top high school team advances to a state competition May 19 and 20. This year's local competition included students from Allentown Central Catholic, Emmaus, Northern Lehigh, Parkland, Southern Lehigh and Whitehall high schools.

Students from the Emmaus Pollinators team from Emmaus High School measure the height of a tree with a Biltmore stick, a tool used to measure the dimensions of trees.
