May 20

Emmaus Historical Society meets 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. Bob Benner presents the third part of "Native Americans of Eastern Pennsylvania and the Jasper Quarries of Vera Cruz." The historical society museum will close May 30 to prepare for the move to the new building at 218 Main St. The Main Street location is set for a September opening. May 24

The Veterans Brick Installation at the Emmaus Commemorative Garden will be held 1 to 2 p.m. The garden, which is in its 11th year and has installed almost 400 bricks, is located next to the Knauss Homestead behind Cintas off Emmaus Avenue. For information, visit emmausremembers.org.

The Emmaus Veterans Committee will honor departed comrades buried in each of the six Emmaus cemeteries. All are invited for a short prayer service, rifle salute and taps. Events begin 8 a.m. at Calvary cemetery, then in the following order; Old Moravian, Moravian at Ridge St., Lutheran Reformed, Northwood and ending at Evangelical, Second and Ridge streets.

Graveside Memorial Day Services will be conducted by the Macungie V.F.W. Memorial Post No. 9264 at the following locations: St. Peters Union Church Cemetery - 10:15 a.m.; Macungie Fairview Cemetery, Macungie, 11 a.m.; Solomon's Church Cemetery, Macungie, 11:30 a.m.; Old Zionsville Zion's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Old Zionsville, noon; Bethany United Methodist Cemetery, East Texas, 12:30 p.m.

May 25

Memorial Day Service at the Wescosville World War II Monument starting promptly 9 a.m. sponsored by the Lower Macungie Garden Club along with the Lower Macungie Historical Society to honor all veterans past and present. The public and veterans are all welcome to attend.

The annual Memorial Day Parade will start promptly 9 a.m. at the Emmaus High School parking lot moving to Chestnut Street and ending at the Memorial Triangle. The memorial service will be held at this location. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held in the Emmaus High School auditorium 10 a.m.

A flag raising and placing of wreath ceremony will take place at the Macungie Memorial Park, Veteran's Memorial 8:30 a.m. The Macungie Memorial Day Parade will begin at the William A. Shoemaker Elementary School 10 a.m.. The parade route follows East Main Street (PA Route 100) from Fairview Street to the Macungie Memorial Park Bandshell. Following the parade, the 67th annual Macungie Memorial Day Program will be conducted at the Macungie Park Bandshell at approximately 10:45 a.m. The guest speaker is Bert Winzer, World War II veteran, U.S. Army 1st Special Service Force. A memorial service will be held at the Lehigh-Northampton Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 287 Lehigh St., Macungie noon. Free refreshments follow the memorial service. In the event of rain, the parade will be cancelled and the Memorial Day services will be held in the Macungie Memorial Park auditorium, 50 Poplar St., Macungie 10:30 a.m. For more information or for Monday event cancellation updates, go to www.macungie.org or call 610-965-0372.

GFWC PA Women's Club of Emmaus' annual spring luncheon at Brookside Country Club will celebrate its 75th anniversary. Social hour is 11:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch served at noon. There is a cost. Reservations can be made by calling 610-707-4905. Entertainment will be songs of the past 75 years.
