Lehigh County Controller Glenn Eckhart, a Republican from Salisbury Township, is once again facing a challenge from Democrat Thomas Slonaker of Whitehall Township in the May 19 primary for a four-year term in office.

The last time the two went head-to-head was in the November 2011 election when voters chose Eckhart, who at the time was a member of the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners, first elected to that office in 2006.

The names of both candidates will appear on their respective party's ballots in November.
