Joyful giving! Donations of any kind of baked goods made with chocolate for the Allentown Soup Kitchen may be dropped off 6-7 p.m. on May 11 in Heidelberg Church's Fellowship Hall.

According to Assistant Coordinator Linda Hausamann, 140 hot meals were served recently to the hungry and homeless at the Allentown Soup Kitchen.

The meal consisted of sliced ham, mashed potatoes, vegetable soup, salad, ice cream and Easter decorated desserts from faithful Heidelberg bakers.

Special thanks to the volunteers of the day: Pastor David Hess, Doris and Richard Koenig, Eleanor and Ron Klevenhagen, Shirley Boger, Linda Hausa-mann and Howard Truitt.

To find out more about helping at the soup kitchen, call Linda at 610-767-5281 or Howard at 610-682-4831.

That's the spirit! Heidelberg Church thanks everyone who contributed food, money and their time in helping to pack the many Easter food baskets given recently to less fortunate families in the area.

Heidelberg Church reached out to 25 families, which included 91 people.

Many thanks to Heidel Hollow Farms for the eggs, the Alan Hoffner family for the potatoes and Weis Markets for the baked goods.

Way to go! More than 60 children plus their parents or grandparents had a joyous time collecting Easter eggs and eating snacks at the Heidelberg Church Sunday School egg hunt.

Hats off to the Heidelberg Heights Community Playground Association for raising $183 from the bake sales and bunny photos.

These funds will be used for playground improvements.

And last, but not least, kudos to the many volunteers for making this annual event such a wonderful outreach for the church and community families.

Some Heidelberg humor! A boy goes to a strip club. His mom gets angry.

Mom: Did you see anything there that you were not supposed to see?

Boy: Yes, I saw dad!
