Lehigh County commissioners vote for two board appointments

Lehigh County commissioners have appointed two new individuals to boards.

During the April 22 meeting, the board appointed Lower Macungie resident Deana Zosky to the Lehigh County Authority and John Crampsie, of North Whitehall Township, to the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.

In the first round of voting for Zosky, only Commissioner David Jones Jr. cast a vote of support.

Commissioners Geoff Brace, Thomas Creighton and Amanda Holt cast their votes for Lower Macungie resident Jeremy Melber.

Commissioner Brad Osborne voted for Jeffrey Morgan of South Whitehall Township, while Commissioners Percy Dougherty and Michael Schware supported Robert Hamil of Lower Macungie.

As the voting process progressed, Dougherty, urging other commissioners to follow suit , said he was changing his vote to Zosky.

During the second round of voting, Jones, Dougherty, Schware and Osborne voted for Zosky.

Holt and Brace cast votes for Morgan and Creighton voted for Weber.

During the third round of voting, Zosky received four votes. Holt and Creighton voted for Melber, while Brace voted for Morgan.

Zosky again received four votes during the fourth round. Holt switched back to Melber.

Creighton remained with Melber and Brace with Morgan.

Zosky lauded the voting process.

"I appreciate democracy and the way that it works," she said, adding she is well qualified to serve on the board. "I believe my financial experience, my mom experience and my interest in the community would be very useful."

Zosky's term runs until Dec. 31, 2018.
