Cat call has firefighters up a tree

What does one do when a curious kitten decides to explore the great outdoors and view the world from the top of a tree?

For April Sweeney, of 2582 Huckleberry Road, South Whitehall, the answer was to dial 911.

Greenawalds volunteer firefighters responded to Sweeney's pleas for help around 12:45 p.m. April 27 when her 9-month-old kitten Milo climbed a tree in her yard and could not return to terra firma by himself.

Using a ladder and a bag of cat treats, Greenawalds Lt. Jared Tellechea tried to reach the frustrated feline.

When that didn't work, Cetronia Fire Department's Tower 331 was called to assist in the rescue operation.

Using the bucket on the aerial truck, Cetronia volunteer firefighters Kevin McIntyre and Thomas Williams were finally able to reach Milo around 1:30 p.m. and happily placed him in Sweeney's arms.
