The annual May Day Festival in Lockridge Park will be noon to 5 p.m. Enjoy a day of visiting vendors' wares, food and entertainment. The crowning of this year's May Queeen will be 2 p.m. Girls ages nine to 11 are needed for maypole dancing. Younger girls are needed for posie and archer plays. A representative from the office Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-18th, will be at the Emmaus Public Library to help people with property tax/rent rebate applications 10 a.m. to noon.

East Penn Invested Citizens and the Lehigh Valley League of Women Voters will host a "Meet the Candidates Night" for the East Penn School Board primary election 7 to 9 p.m. at the Macungie Institute, 519 E. Main St., Macungie. The race features seven candidates competing for five seats.

May 5

The Crazy Quilters Quilt Guild will meet 7 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus. The evening's program, "Quilting with Expression," will be presented by Pat Sloan, well-known quilt pattern and fabric designer. There will be a charge for visitors. CPA and national social security advisor Paul Stocker will be at the Emmaus Public Library to present a seminar on the ins and outs of Social Security 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.

Alburtis Lions Club and Lehigh Lutheran Church Mother's Day dinner 4 to 7 p.m. at Zion Lehigh Lutheran Church, 8269 Spring Creek Road, Alburtis. There is no charge for children under five.

Lower Macungie Garden Club's plant and bake sale will take place 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lower Macungie Township Community Center, Brookside Road, Macungie. The Emmaus Veterans Committee will hold cemetery services (Honor Guard and Firing Squad) at Western Salisbury Union Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown, 9 a.m.

May 21

A free informational session on adoption and child foster care will be held 6 p.m. at Diakon Adoption and Foster Care, located on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton, One S. Home Ave., Topton. People interested in attending are asked to call 888-582-2230 or 610-682-1504 to register. Attendees will learn about children available for adoption as well as the foster-to-adopt program.

May 24

The Emmaus Veterans Committee will honor departed comrades buried in each of the six Emmaus cemeteries. All are invited for a short prayer service, rifle salute and taps. Events begin 8 a.m. at Calvary cemetery, then in the following order; Old Moravian, Moravian at Ridge St., Lutheran Reformed, Northwood and ending at Evangelical, Second and Ridge streets.

May 25

Memorial Day Service at the Wescosville World War II Monument starting promptly 9 a.m. sponsored by the Lower Macungie Garden Club along with the Lower Macungie Historical Society to honor all veterans past and present. The public and veterans are all welcome to attend.

The annual Memorial Day Parade will start promptly 9 a.m. moving out from the Emmaus High School parking lot to Chestnut Street and ending at the Memorial Triangle. The memorial service will be held at this location. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held in the Emmaus High School auditorium 10 a.m. All veterans are urged to participate with their Posts.
