St. Peter's cooks up a dandy dandelion dinner

"If you don't want to be seated with your wives or husbands, I can arrange that, too," said Larry Hoffman on April 11 as he called out the numbers of people to be seated at St. Peter's Union Church, Lynnville, for the dandelion dinner.

At 3 p.m., as the volunteers in the kitchen were adding the finishing touches, the church was already well filled with soon-to-be dandelion dinner guests enjoying the gospel music of Jack and Friends.

Kyle Steber met those waiting to eat at the door of the church and escorted them to fellowship hall where he showed them their table.

Jack Snyder, of Jack and Friends, jokenly said Hoffman was up since 4 a.m. at a yard sale but he didn't sell any grass.

Snyder said it was really great, this thing the church does, because it lets him get to see people he only sees once a year when he is performing at the church event.

Howard Truitt then played the theme from the "Lone Ranger" television program on the harmonica.

Snyder said people should recall when the Lone Ranger shot someone on television there was never any blood and that was probably because of the silver bullets.

He asked what a rabbit walking backward is called but did not get any response.

The answer, according to Snyder, is a receding hareline.
