Where arethe butterflies?

The garden is planted

Emerged are Sweet Williams

Cornflowers

California Poppies

Gaillardia

Yellows Cosmos and Coreopsis

All these and more

stand ready to entice Lepidoptera

This butterfly garden

entered through garden gates

guarded by three butterfly bushes

and a Russian Sage

awaits their glorious descent

Have the Monarchs migrated

from Mexico?

Or are they, too, in jeopardy?

My garden is devoid

of lovely winged creatures

I mourn their absence

Where, oh where, are the butterflies?
