At the April 13 meeting of the East Penn School District Board of Directors, members approved the appointment of Gorman & Associates, P.C. as auditors for the district through June 30, 2017.
Board member Lynn Donches opposed, quoting from the handbook of the Public School Board Association limiting the number of consecutive years for any one auditor is advisable and commenting a Request for Proposal was not sent out for this contract.
A motion proposed by Donches for a resolution of the check expenditure summary report failed for lack of a second. The resolution would have addressed Donches's concern with what she has termed the incomplete information on the check summary the board approves twice a month by providing more detailed information about the expenditure of each purchase.
The board respectfully declined an offer from Tim Harrison, the developer of Hamilton Crossings, to be included on a sign required by the commonwealth to thank the state Department of Community and Economic Development and other departments.
Lower Macungie was offered a place on the sign and declined. Board member Rev. Waldemar Vinovskis opined while the development would be good for the community, the district's presence on the sign is not necessary. Donches opposed the idea and Fuller and Bacher both politely demurred.
