GFWC-PA Woman's Club of Emmaus will hold a card party 11:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. A light lunch will be served. There is a cost. April 25

Friends of the Emmaus Library will host its annual book sale in the cafeteria of Lower Macungie Middle School, 6229 Lower Macungie Road, 7 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The brown bag blow-out is 3 to 3:45 p.m. The Nutrition, Health and Safety Fair, organized by the Nutrition Group will offer free food samples, free blood pressure screenings, health information and demonstrations. The nutrition fair runs 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

GFWC-PA Woman's Club of Emmaus will hold its monthly meeting 7 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, Emmaus. The program is "Come to meet the Alpacas" with Bill Graschin from Harley Hill Farms.

A representative from Sen. Lisa Boscola's office will be at the Emmaus Public Library to help people with Property Tax/Rent Rebate applications 10 a.m. to noon.

East Penn Invested Citizens and the Lehigh Valley League of Women Voters will host a "Meet the Candidates Night" for the East Penn School Board primary election 7 to 9 p.m. at the Macungie Institute, 519 E. Main St., Macungie. The race features seven candidates competing for five seats.

May 5

The Crazy Quilters Quilt Guild will meet 7 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus. The evening's program, "Quilting with Expression," will be presented by Pat Sloan, well-known quilt pattern and fabric designer. There will be a charge for visitors. A free informational session on adoption and child foster care will be held 6 p.m. at Diakon Adoption and Foster Care, located on the campus of The Lutheran Home at Topton, One S. Home Ave., Topton. People interested in attending are asked to call 888-582-2230 or 610-682-1504 to register. Diakon Adoption and Foster Care staff will explain foster parenting as well as the processes involved in adopting a child. Attendees also will learn about children available for adoption as well as the foster-to-adopt program.
