According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the demand for dental assistants is expected to grow by 25 percent nationally through 2022.

In response to this opportunity, Northampton Community College will offer a new dental assisting certificate program.

The 10-week program prepares participants to work under the supervision of a dentist and focuses on chairside assisting and laboratory techniques.

The program features hands-on instruction and clinical observation through an externship arranged by the college.

The program runs Monday through Thursday, June 8 through Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The cost is $2,999.
