Simple assault
William Frederick Lovett, 36, of Bensalem, was taken into custody and charged with simple assault after he allegedly attacked a 28-year-old woman of Lower Macungie Township March 31 while they were passengers in a vehicle. According to police, a physical altercation and struggle occurred in the vehicle and Lovett allegedly struck and choked the woman several times while the vehicle was en route to the woman's home on Laurel Lane, Lower Macungie Township. Charges were filed in District Court 31-3-02.
Theft
Reported in the 5000 block of Cypress Street, Lower Macungie Township, two pieces of jewelry and numerous checks were taken between April 1 and 3. The investigation continues.
Reported at Sprint Tower, 1410 Hidden Valley Road, Lower Macungie Township, unknown actors removed 16 Alcatel Lucent 12 volt batteries valued at $5,000 between noon and 2 p.m. April 5. Anyone with information regarding this incident may contact Pennsylvania State Police at 610-395-1438.
Retail theft
Reported at Kohls department store, 6900 Hamilton Blvd., Lower Macungie Township, two juveniles from Bushkill took $75 worth of merchandise around 3:49 p.m. April 4.
Mohammad Shakibi, 77, of Allentown, was arrested for felony retail theft and taken to Lehigh County Prison after he allegedly attempted to flee in a vehicle from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, after police responded to the store for a retail theft April 4.
Criminal mischief
Reported by a 59-year-old female, of Lower Macungie Township, unknown actors poured antifreeze into the gas tank of a vehicle in the 7500 block of Quarry Road between April 3 and 4. The vehicle broke down 9:30 p.m. April 4 and had to be towed.
Identity theft
Reported by a 61-year-old male, of the 6700 block of Carmel Drive, Lower Macungie Township, 11:41 a.m. April 6, an unknown actor fraudulently filed a 2014 Federal Income Tax return using the resident's identity. The investigation continues.
