GFWC PA Woman's Club of Emmaus named Christine Carlson as the club's girl of the month for January.

Carlson was recognized for her achievements in business.

Carlson placed first in the hospitality management category in the Pennsylvania state chapter of Future Business Leaders of America competition in 2015.

The managing editor of features for The Stinger, the Emmaus High School newspaper, Carlson received two Student Keystone Press Awards in 2014.

Carlson plans to study event management and entrepreneurship and hopes to someday own a bed and breakfast "where I can host weddings and events on the property."

She is the daughter of Alan and Gail Carlson, of Macungie.
