Retail theft

Amber Rose Sosa, 25, of Hellertown, was apprehended at a traffic stop March 20 after she allegedly took $99.57 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township. According to police, Sosa neglected to scan merchandise when using a self-checkout station in the store around 11 a.m.

Dustin Edward Morrow, 24, of Emmaus, was arrested for retail theft after police were called to Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, 2:30 p.m. March 21 after Morrow allegedly was seen selecting a 55-inch television, valued at $548, and placing the television in a shopping cart. Morrow allegedly exited Walmart without paying for the television and was stopped by store personnel. Charges will be filed in District Court 31-3-02.

Sidney Dougherty Burke, 27, of Wilmington, Del., was charged with retail theft and corruption of a minor after he allegedly attempted to take $400 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, around 1:05 p.m. March 24. Burke allegedly attempted to the flee but was stopped by state police. According to a press release from police, Burke took the items while his 6-year-old daughter was with him. Charges were filed in District Court 31-3-02.

Ashley Nicole Connor, 20, of New Castle, Del., was cited for retail theft after she allegedly tried to leave Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, without paying for $32.48 worth of merchandise March 31. Police described Connor as shoveling miscelleaneous cosmetics into her purse between 3:30 and 3:55 p.m. A non-traffic citation was filed in District Court 31-3-02.

Fraylin Vargas, 23, of Allentown, was arrested for retail theft after she allegedly attempted to take 13 miscellaneous items valued at $309.19 from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, around 2 p.m. March 31. Charges were filed in District Court 31-3-02.

Access device fraud

Reported by a resident in the 4800 block of Meadow Lane, Lower Macungie Township, a credit card company alerted the resident of fraudulent purchases on his card at area grocery and retail stores March 19. The investigation continues.
