Alburtis Tavern debuts its own vodka

Terry Bender, owner of the Alburtis Tavern, announced March 26 the tavern now has its own house 80 proof, gluten-free vodka.

Distilled locally in Milford Township, the vodka will only be sold at the tavern.

The one-litre bottle features Alburtis Tavern's exclusive brand label with the smoking train engine logo. The vodka is never to be sold by the bottle. The liquor is available only by the glass at Alburtis Tavern.

"It's a neat touch for Alburtis. Getting the name Alburtis is really big. I like this town. We work very hard with everything we do here from food to service. I am hands-on and have plans for the future," Bender said.

Because of the harsh winter, builders are tied up right now making repairs. As soon as builders are available, and it might take a few months because of them being backlogged, Bender will have a three-tiered deck built on the back of the hotel. It will be the biggest deck around here, Bender said.

Bender has other plans to beautify and improve some buildings or houses in Alburtis.

"Stay tuned for more exciting news is coming soon," Bender said with a big smile.

Being a religiously charitable man, Bender spoke of thoughts he has to benefit the people and the town.

When he sees a place or building for sale he envisions what can be done to beautify and make it better. He wants it to be an asset to the community.

Bender employs local people and regularly donates a portion of his profits from the sale of Lockridge Lager to a local service he knows is beneficial in the community.

Bender donates a portion of other profits he makes to other local places or projects he feels need it most at the time. He is always looking for ways to improve his surroundings and has positive visions for the future of Alburtis.

Bender's philosophy is give back, share the wealth and deal locally as this benefits everyone.
