George F. Breunig

George F. Breunig, 91, of Tamaqua, formerly of Emmaus, died March 15, 2015, in Hometown. He was the husband of Lucille (Schollenberger) Breunig. Born in Alburtis, he was the son of the late George F. and Elsie (Ruth) Breunig.

He was a welder for Traylor Engineering and later he and his wife were proprietors of George's Schwinn Cyclery in Emmaus, retiring in 1985.

He was a lifetime member of Old Zionsville U.C.C.

He honorably served his country in the Navy during World War II as a gunner's mate on the LST 981, seeing action in England during the blitzkrieg, the invasion of Normandy and the occupation of Tokyo.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Dennis and his wife Linda, of Fleetwood, Dean, of Tamaqua and Darryl and his wife Wendy, of Mertztown; daughter, Donna and her husband Ronald DeBellis, of Tamaqua; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by a great-granddaughter.
