Volleyball returns nine srs.

The Emmaus boys volleyball team was close last year. The Hornets not only beat District 11 champion Parkland in a regular season match, but they also took one game from the Trojans in the district title match, losing 3-1.

Emmaus could be set up to return to the district title game this year as the Hornets graduated just two players from last year's team in setter Jake Reynold and middle hitter Drew Switzer.

Nine varsity players return this spring, including eight seniors and one junior. Some of this season's key returning players include outside hitter Pat Bryan, middle hitter Ethan Mauer, outside hitter Autin Brauchle and libero Greg Lind.

Newcomers Carson Landis (sophomore, middle hitter) and Cameron Parson (freshman, setter) could also make an impact this season.

First-year head coach Ken Dunkle wants his team to "work hard to improve all season long and be able to recognize as a player what contribution you can make to the team at all times, be it during practice, on the court during a match, or on the sideline during a match."

Dunkle likes his team's continuity with so many players back from last season. He is pleased with his players ability to pass and play defense. He would like to see his squad play with a more consistent energy level and a stronger desire to win.

He also likes his team's attitude.

"It's a great group of guys to be coaching," he said.
