LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Student of the Week

Q: What grade are you in?

A: I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?

A: My favorite academic subject this year is Spanish because I am in Advanced Placement this year and it allows me to be immersed in the language because we only speak Spanish in class. My favorite overall subject, though, is studio art.

Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A: In my four years at Emmaus I've won two awards with the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science at the state level. I have won two silver keys and two honorable mentions for pieces of artwork I submitted to the Scholastic Art and Writing awards. One of those pieces of art won second place in the Federal Congressional Art Competition of 2014.

Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?

A: This year I'm in art club as the treasurer, Spanish club, and Buzz magazine. I have also been involved in stage crew and played varsity volleyball.

Q: What is your next goal after high school?

A: My next goal immediately after high school is to go to college and travel the world. I haven't committed to any college yet though.

Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A: My biggest challenge has probably been to stay motivated to study and get good grades consistently and balance other activities.

Q: What do you want to be remembered for?

A: I'd like to be remembered for being nice to everyone. I really try to be friendly towards people I interact with throughout the day.

Q: Who is in your family?

A: My family consists of my parents Steve and Susan, my younger siblings Alaina and Eric, our dog Chester, and gecko Lizzie.

Q: Do you have someone you look up to?

A: I don't have any one person I look up to. I admire a lot of poets and use their words for advice.

Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?

A: My advice for my peers is to not always go with the flow because you won't grow by following the crowd and you won't stand out from anyone else. You'll just be another face in the sea of a few thousand students.
