The theme for the 13th Annual Forensic Symposium March 28 at Cedar Crest College, Allentown, is "Falcon Files: The Next Generation," showcasing new technologies in the world of forensic science and how they are applied in modern laboratory casework.
"The goal of the symposium is to give our students and the public the opportunity to interact with professionals in the field and expose them to things they might not encounter as students," said Prof. Lawrence Quarino, Ph.D., Director for the Forensics Sciences Program at Cedar Crest.
Among the topics are the use of DNA to stop human trafficking and how pharmacological and entomological findings aid criminal investigations.
Speakers include a Cedar Crest alumna working in the Sexual and Violent Crimes Unit of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, the CEO of the National Forensic Science Technology Center (NFSTC) and a forensic entomologist.
