LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

New date for bridge meeting

As the presentation by PennDOT on the removal of the Route 863 bridge over I-78 in Weisenberg Township was postponed due the weather, a new date was announced at the supervisors March 9 meeting.

The meeting will be 6:30-8 p.m. March 24 at the township building.

In other matters, the Broadhurst subdivision, represented by William Beitler of Beitler Surveying and landowner Jeffrey Broadhurst, was up for final plan approval at the Wesienberg supervisors March meeting.

The plan was for two lots and a residue parcel.

After discussion, the board approved the plan. Supervisors also appoved the planning module for this subdivision.

Supervisors also tackled the problem of whether to continue the requirement for sketch plans.

Current subdivision and land development ordinance requires the presentation of a sketch plan for review as the first step of the subdivision and land development process.

Several neighboring township fee schedules were studied to see if the escrow amount, which accompanies the filing was sufficient to cover township review costs.

In the end, the board decided to keep the sketch plan but revise the fee schedule.

Resident Ryan Reimert asked supervisors for permission to install a second driveway on his lot along Stagecoach Road.

This driveway would only be used to access an existing pole barn.

Supervisors reviewed the application with Roadmaster Anthony Werley and then granted permission for the installation.

The Environmental Advisory Committee received a request to construct a bird watching area at the township park along Lyon Valley Road. This would be done by one of the Boy Scouts for an Eagle Scout project.

Supervisors looked at this favorably but wants a sketch of what is proposed for the site before giving the go-ahead.

Fire Chief Brian Carl said there were 52 calls so far this year for the Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Company.

He also said firefighters are having a hoagie sale that will run until the end of the month.

Roadmaster Werley had only a few words to say in his road report.

"It's been a rough two months," Werley said.

With the constant plowing, salting and cindering, there wasn't much time for other projects other than equipment repairs, Werley said adding pothole repair is on the agenda.
