Lynn Twp board deciding where to house Cetronia's ambulance

Cetronia Ambulance Corps officially began coverage for Lynn Township 2 p.m. Feb. 13.

Discussion now centers as to where to house the ambulance.

Currently, the vehicle is in the garage at the Lynn Township Municipal Building.

Supervisor Brian Dietrich asked if the township is interested in the old ambulance building along Route 309.

Fellow Supervisor Steve Feinour said the township would probably place a bid on the property but it would not be near the asking price.

Dietrich then asked about the New Tripoli Fire Company building in Lynnville, saying this would be more or less centrally located in the township.

New Tripoli Fire Chief Peter Christ, said the lease for the current tenant was just renewed for the upcoming year.

Christ said the architects plan for the addition to the New Tripoli building could include room for the ambulance.

Chairman Justin Smith contended the township should pick the best geographic location for the facility.

Dietrich also brought up the fact that maybe the facility could be located at the township building if proper renovations were made.

Cetronia Ambulance Corps CEO Larry Wiersh said the corps is collecting data to study three locations: Routes 309 and 143, New Tripoli Fire Company and the Lynnville site.

Wiersh also said since Cetronia has have been in the township, personnel have responded to 26 calls.

In other matters, Eric Andreus, from Nestlé Waters, presented the township with a check for $15,000 to support the Ontelaunee Park project.

Greg Snyder received approval for his three-lot subdivision at 7269 Decatur St., New Tripoli.

New Tripoli Fire Chief Peter Christ told the board the bid for surveying of the new addition was granted to Beitler Surveying.

Nine bids were received for the architectural plans but a decision has not been made as to which company will receive the nod to proceed. Kempton Fire Company will have a grain bin rescue class April 8, 11 and 12.

Lynnport Fire Chief Clark Mantz, Lynnport Fire Company reported firefighters responded to five calls in February with two to date in March. The 2000 Club's final drawing will be March 22, along with an Easter egg hunt lunch with the Bunny.

Hoagie sales are on the first Wednesday of the month.

The need for a fire study was brought forward by Feinour.

He said the township did not want to fund this endeavor if the fire companies would ignore the result.

He also explained why the study should be done in the first place.

Christ said this would be done by an unconcerned third party and it would set a base line for the future needs of the fire companies.

Smith said the township should advertise a request for proposal (RFP) to initiate the study.

Both fire companies would abide by the results of the research.

Snow plowing, stoning dirt roads and maintenance and repair of equipment took up most of the road crews time in February. Roadmaster Bruce Raber is looking forward to pot hole filling and boom mowing in the near future.

The annual Allentown St. Patrick's Day parade will be March 22 and a request was forwarded to the township to have the fire police from the New Tripoli Fire Company aid in this event. Supervisors gave their approval.

Lynn Township's new truck is currently being assembled by Hondru Ford of Reading. E.M. Kutz will install the body. It is a Ford F550 and will be on display at the upcoming Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors convention.

Three maintenance projects will be forthcoming. The flag pole in front of the township building has fallen due to the severe weather. Also, some of the rain spouting on the administration building is in need of repair and a new roof is needed on the maintenance building.
