Recently Emmaus High School's student-run newspaper, The Stinger, won several Keystone Awards for student journalism.
The editor-in-chief of the paper, Justine Coleman, won first place for column writing, Alana Margolis won honorable mention for her review of Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett's collaborative album and a story package done by several editors about the dangers of concussions took second place in public service stories.
Additionally, a feature story on Emmaus graduate Kevin White took first place in sports layout.
Lastly, Angie Stein won second place for her editorial cartooning. These students will be honored at a ceremony in Hershey in early April.
Congratulations to all of these student journalists.
Several Stinger editors also traveled to Penn State Main Campus earlier this month, where they participated in statewide write-offs in several categories, including news, sports and headlines.
Sophomore and news editor of The Stinger, Cathryn Seibert won first place in the state for news writing.
Emmaus' Key Club traveled to Padcon, the annual Key Club convention held in Hershey. Students Kevyn McConlogue, Morgyn Hagy, Louis Berrigan and Brianna McGinley all received awards at the convention.
Senior Ryan Bilger participated in the PA History Bee making it to the championship round. Additionally, Bilger and senior Sam Jarvis took first place in the varsity history bowl competition.
Congratulations to all Emmaus students who have been working tremendously hard this year and making their school district proud.
