Melanie Perez of Allentown and Daniel Minnich of Laurys Station were named to the honors list for the fall 2014 semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Metropolitan Campus, Teaneck, N.J.

To qualify for the honor's list, a student must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).

Kurt Keller of Allentown, a senior history major, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2014 semester at York College of Pennsylvania, York.

To be eligible for this honor, a student must be registered for at least 12 academic credit hours and earn a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Sydney Krassen of Orefield, a student in the School of Human Ecology, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2014-15 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, Wis.

Students who achieve at a high level academically are recognized by the dean at the close of each semester.

Patrick Strobel of New Tripoli was named to the dean's list for the fall 2014 semester at the University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt.

Strobel is a sophomore majoring in anthropology.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Students help

at flu clinic

Brandon Kohler, a third-year pharmacy student, and Suhayl Rahim, a second-year pharmacy student, both from Allentown, were among 28 students from Wilkes University's pharmacy and nursing programs who volunteered with Lehigh Valley Hospital at the hospital's free drive-thru flu clinic at Dorney Park, South Whitehall Township.

The students aided hospital staff in preparing and distributing vaccines to more than 14,000 people.

named editor

Jennifer Rohrbach of Kutztown, a freshman English major, has been named editor of the news section for the Blue and Gold Student Media Site at Widener University, Chester.

She will serve as editor through the fall 2015 semester.

Since its inception in August 2013, the Blue and Gold has published more than 150 stories written by Widener students.
