Emergency services personnel and the code enforcement officer for Emmaus were on the scene within minutes around 1 p.m. March 8 when pieces of a building's facade landed on the sidewalk at 10 S. Fourth St., Emmaus. According to Borough Manager Shane Pepe there were no injuries. During an initial inspection of the building, Code Enforcement Officer James Farnsworth said there was no immediate danger of additional debris falling to the ground; however, Fourth Street was closed for the safety of residents and shoppers. The owner of the building was told to get a structural engineer to verify the safety of the building and to determine how to proceed. The building has apartments on the upper level and a retail space on the ground level, formerly leased by Mixies Yogurt Cafe.
