Holy Spirit Christian Nursery School marks 40 years in 2015 and the celebration is well underway.
Current students recently enjoyed a day of games, crafts and birthday cake to celebrate.
A church service held Feb. 8 at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, home to the nursery school, welcomed students, teachers and staff members who have participated in the program throughout the past four decades.
The school started in 1975 with six students, according to its website.
Now the school offers programs for students ages two, three, four and five in morning and afternoon sessions. This year's class roster includes 60 students.
A closing anniversary celebration is planned for the end of the school year.
Angelina Bast and Benjamin Harris sit among gift bags earmarked for the Birthday Bag Bag Project at the Holy Spirit Christian Nursery School. Throughout February students, teachers and staff collected items needed to hold a birthday party and filled colorful gift bags later donated to less fortunate children.
