Moving from Chicago to the small town of Bomont presents some issues for Ren McCormack, who discovers that dancing, his passion, is not permitted by the local pastor. Ren takes steps to convince local teens to change the law, thereby setting the stage for the lively musical "Footloose," to be presented at 7 p.m. March 6 - 7 and 2 p.m. March 8 in the auditorium of Catasauqua High School, 2500 W. Bullshead Road, Allen Township.

The musical is directed by Brenda V. McGuire, who advises the Catasauqua High School Drama Club. Kerry F. McQuire is assistant director and choreographer. Rebekah Ruth is vocal director and rehearsal pianist. Robert Arnold is music director and orchestra conductor. Jessica Englert is assistant choreographer.

The "Footloose" cast of 28 includes Patric Corrocher (Ren McCormack), Krys Roberts (Ariel Moore), Connor Green (Rev. Shaw Moore), Amber Labezius (Rusty) and Ronald Ramnarine (Willard Hewitt).

"Footloose" was a movie, starring Kevin Beacon, released in 1984. The popular film was adapted for the stage as "Footloose The Musical," opening on Broadway in 1998, with music by Tom Snow, lyrics by Dean Pitchford and book by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. It was nominated for four Tony Awards. A film remake of "Footloose" was released in 2011, starring Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, Andie MacDowell and Dennis Quaid.
