LW Consulting, Inc., the management firm for Cedarbrook Nursing Home for more than a decade, has formally given notice it will not seek to renew its current contract.

The contract expires June 30.

In a letter to Lehigh County Executive Tom Muller, Lisa Wilt, president and chief executive officer, cited the "current political environment" as fundamental to the decision not to work with the county. Wilt described Lehigh County Commissioners as "continually looking over our shoulders and trying to micromanage the facility."

LW Consulting has run Cedarbrook for the past 11 years.

In a press announcement, Muller wrote "LW has done an outstanding job of managing our Cedarbrook Nursing Homes through very challenging times."

Muller noted LW Consulting has beaten the budget "eight out of 11 years" and consistently received four-star rating by Medicare.

Lehigh County will intiate a Request for Proposals process for a new management firm by early April.
