LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

Frank Sadrovitz will be missed by the whole Emmaus Community, but especially by the Emmaus Flag Day Association.

It was Frank who sold flags to borough residents and notified the borough to drill a hole in the sidewalk. He then donned coveralls and went with a bucket of cement to install a receptacle for the flag pole. So all the flags you'll see in front of homes all over town, were installed by Frank Sadrovitz of the EFDA.

There is already a flag pole monument in the Veteran's Triangle placed by the borough honoring him for community service. Frank, even in his '90s, would rise early every morning in the summer to pull weeds, etc. maintaining the flower beds in Veteran's Triangle and Community Park.

Frank always set up the stage for our annual Flag Day program at the park, plus he had a cassette tape of a drum roll he would play for the Boy Scouts to do the presentation and retiring of colors.

Other jobs he did for EFDA were collecting old flags for burning ceremony with receptacles in three locations and ordering the flags for The Triangle and Fourth Street Bridge to be flown on Memorial Holidays.

Additionally, he marched with the veterans for all borough parades and at funerals of veterans.

EFDA has been unable to find a replacement for Frank so there is no one in place to carry on what he performed diligently for over 40 years.

Thank you, Frank. Job Well Done! Rest in Peace!
