Firefighters from Eastern and Western Salisbury and Fountain Hill fire departments responded to smoke coming from a window at a residence in the 1600 block of Broadway around 12:30 p.m. Feb. 16.

The resident reported smoke was coming from the windowsill on the side of his house.

Crews used thermal imaging cameras to check for heat in the wall around the window. Firefighters had to remove the window and part of a wall to locate the source and found it to be a smoldering piece of wood from the windowsill and wall under the window.

The residents were able to remain in the house.
